The first NK cell Symposium was held as a very small meeting in Heidelberg, Germany in December 2006 (NK2006). During this symposium the idea was born to organize a Study Group on NK cell biology within the German Society for Immunology. Since 2008 this study group now organizes annual NK cell Symposia in Germany, which have established themselves as the leading European conference on NK cells.
